Well, even though noone reads my blog, I'm gonna restart it with this.
This is Slinky. The dad found him abandoned up in the Wicklow mountains, and took pity on the poor little bugger.
So, he's living with us for now!
Of course, the mam is dead-set against it, but since she's home most of the time, I think this could work out.
We'll give him a trial for a week anyway before calling the animal shelters.

Things to note:
-He was STARVING, and has eaten 2 tins of dogfood in the last 6hrs.
-He's kinda afraid of loud noises, but otherwise is VERY friendly.
-He sheds hair like CRAZY.

Let's see if he can bounce back to form -- he's happily running around the garden already.

Well, seeing as I have no job (or readers -- probably), I'm just gonna have to start blogging like crazy.

First up -- getting over blogger's anxiety (the feeling that someone is reading my thoughts -- and stalking me!).

Then talking about crap I like.

And now to order an Apple Blackbook, since the poor old iBook can't actually play HQ anime.

Also, I should probably do something about all the LEGO since it's starting to clutter up... or maybe I can remove the alarm clock & fit more LEGO in... decisions, decisions...

Happy Valentine's Hallmark Day

Ho-hum.
I've not kept up with trying to update this blog after all (though I can always blame a little paranoia that someone will actually read it), but here goes nothing.

Well, really, nothing. Or is it?
I think it's the sake speaking, really -- I went for a meal with Nana in Yamamori (the Japanese place), and really, how can I not have sake in a Japanese restaurant? Head's still spinning a little...
Anyway! Food was absolutely impeccable -- they really know how to present a dish!
Ordered a bento, which came in a lovely black box (must really look for one of those now!); Nana had a trio of side-dishes -- gyoza (came very hot), a really rather meaty aubergine dish & a broccoli salad (broccoli was a tad undercooked).
Finished off with ridiculously good deserts of banoffi & creme brulee & tea/coffee, bill came to just under €70 -- so, considering it's Dublin (and we stuffed ourselves!) that's not too bad.

Stuff to look forward to: getting a set of Logitech Z-2300s (THX power!), cooking, maybe get some shoes or something.

Stuff I'm not looking forward to: writing to Apple to demand why my 7-month old iPod 5.5G (30Gb) has had its headphone socket break -- in the exact same way as the 5G (30Gb) which it replaced!
Maddening -- I don't think I'll accept another iPod after this, so might look into getting a cart to turn my DS Lite into an mp3 player.
I don't know...


Also, my writing style has taken a definite nosedive since the last time I blogged. Will work on this, somehow.

JAB-K to return in Q1'08

Even though noone reads this blog (and rightly so -- it's crap!), my complete and utter boredom while waiting for a new build means I will now focus on bringing JAB-K (as I call it) to at least a half-way decent level.

Assuming I don't get bored & run off into the sunset, skipping. Again.

So yeah.

Burny burny burny! (and Eastern European food...)

Nothing games-related with this stub -- I'm using a wart-removal fluid to get rid of this large wart I've had on my palm for what seems like forever.
Thing is, after scrubbing off the dead skin, I've now hit the almost-healthy skin beneath it (the one with the virus in it). So the fluid is touching that directly.

It is quite a nuisance, to tell you the truth. I can type (and it takes my mind off it), but any other movement just gives me this annoying stab of pain. Oh well; I suppose it could be worse. I could have multiple warts.

Oh wait. I do...

Anyway, 'twas a good St. Paddy's Day w/end. Even though Ireland lost the Six Nations (you fools!!), I still had fun; I went to the foodfest exhibition in the RDS, Dublin. It was quite eye-opening to find out how many different flavours Eastern Europe had to offer -- and quite cheaply too, I might add!
In fact, I gorged myself on plates of cheap (Lithuanian?) dumplings -- pork meatball, potato & fried dumplings (w/potato), all going for the equivalent of -- get this -- €0.60-1.20! Aya (the sushi bar) where there as well, with €1.20 plates of norimaki as well. I also found some crazy Lithuanian cheesecake bars -- very creamy (reminds me of quark), with a sweet dark-choc shell. €0.50. Man, if I can find them for sale, I will be ALL OVER THEM!
There was lots of other fun stuff, too; including some Lithuanian (are you starting to notice a trend here?) traditional fold dancers. I found their dances to be quite entertaining & energetic; except for the more waltz-y ones. Should've joined in, too; some of those girls were cute...

Welcome to the blog

And let me introduce myself.
I'm Kiki. As the blog title states, I am, to all accounts, just another big kid, lost in this sea of bland conformity, etc etc etc *insert emo ranting*
Whoops, shouldn't get side-tracked like that!

So, I'm studying games design ATM, hoping to land a probably-not-very cushy job at some point in the next few years. However, I know that I have a lot to learn about design -- there are still too many games, great games, that I haven't touched (due to lack of money, usually). And of course, there are lots more flawed games which I haven't had the priviledge to play & examine yet, either.
And apart from testing both the high and low points of designs, I have lots more academia to ingest, and industry news to write about.

... hmm, that seemed like a rather long introduction to a humble blog! Hopefully though, my writing will improve over the next few years, becoming both longer, more digestible, and -- importantly -- more interesting!

And that's all for the first post. I'll have to start working on making this blog more readable; and maybe, find out about getting a proper .com address...
